Scaling sustainability: from prototypes to real customer value
We had a deeply thought-provoking evening at the #ConsciousCollective preview, hosted by the Godrej Enterprises Group.
More than an exhibition, it is an immersive reflection on #Sustainability and #ClimateAction— and the role organisations, cities, communities and individuals must play in shaping a better future. I would strongly recommend a visit and walk-around.
Two reflections stayed with me.
First, the compelling articulation by Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director at GEG and the visionary of Godrej Design Labs. She brought alive not just the imperative for climate action, but the possibility of it—through #DesignThinking and #Creativity, combining traditional wisdom with futuristic solutions that are deeply rooted in local context, nature and people.
A powerful reminder that design is not just about aesthetics, but about agency and impact.
Second, the perspective shared by Jamshyd Godrej, Chairman of GEG, and on a critical determinant of real change: SCALE! Sustainability solutions only move the needle when they travel beyond pilots and prototypes, and become viable at scale.
The way I see it, the real challenge—and opportunity—is to build the bridge between:
“People NEED this sustainable solution” and
“Customers WANT this solution”—enough to choose it and pay for it over alternatives.
That bridge is built through deep #CustomerInsights— connecting creative intent with commercial reality, and purpose with profitable execution.
The #ConsciousCollective is a valuable forum for exactly this conversation—and a reminder that when design, insight and scale come together, sustainability can move from intent to impact.
